At the age of two, his parents got divorced. His mother was nineteen when she gave birth to him. While growing up Dwayne Michael Carter Jr removed the initial D from Dwayne due to his father abandoning him at age 5.
Lil Wayne attended Lafayette Elementary School and later proceeded to Eleanor McMain Secondary School, where he stayed for two years. He furthered his secondary education at Marion Abramson Senior High School but dropped out at age of 14 to focus on his musical career.
After his success in music, the rapper again thought of education and enrolled himself University of Phoenix.
